My story of weekend forager starts before I was born, when my paternal grandparents purchased 16 acres in the Santa Cruz mountain range in unincorporated Santa Clara County, CA in the 60’s and my maternal great great grandparents came to California from Portugal eventually owning farmland in Campbell, CA. I’ve lived here in the Bay Area (on Muwekma Ohlone land) for my entire life and love spending time in the wilderness connecting with nature. I think forming a bond with plants is one of the most important things we can do for our health and the health of the Earth and each other. When I had my first child, I wanted him to feel comfortable with identifying and eating common plants found here and through that I’ve learned how to share that connection with others through this website and social media.
